Atypical is a hard rock and alternative metal band based in Kansas City. The band consists of Rachel Cartwright (lead vocals), Trevor Cartwright (vocals and bass), Dakota Barrett (lead guitar), and Robbie Pointer (drums). This mid west band delivers a mix of melodic rock, with shredding guitar and strong vocals with a modern twist that audiences love.

 

The band was formed back in June 2021 when Robbie Pointer asked a few friends to play some songs at his upcoming birthday party. The band received so much positive feedback that they decided to become official and keep playing.

 

Atypical has performed at many venues and restaurants throughout the KC metropolitan area. Their live shows are an immersive experience, filled with powerful vocals, intricate instrumentals, and an undeniable energy that leaves audiences craving more. They were nominated twice as one of the top 5 rock bands in all of Missouri in 2022 and also in 2023.

 

Not only is Atypical making waves with live performances across the Kansas City area, but they are also actively engaged in the production of their debut album.
